This like many other titles was decided for want of something better. The title unlike the names of other pieces has stayed long enough feel it is appropriate.
The picture was painted many years ago – more than a quarter of a century. If it was a car it could be considered an antique.
It has recently been restored hence the new date. The lake doesn’t slope any more.
Its audience forms into two camps. Some think of it as an “Oh wow! Did you paint this? Wow” picture while others respond with “Uh huh. Oh! Is that the time? I’ll get my coat.”
