A fairly important piece for me. It marks a return to painting after about a decade.
It is obviously a surreal painting. There are lots of subtexts, homage to other artists, symbolism and visual puns. An explanation is irrelevant. That is the paintings raison d’être.
It is one of the rare occasions for me where the title of the piece came into focus before the work was started.
It is not a popular piece but I like it. If nothing else I hope it shows I haven’t yet lost technique or imagination.
It has another title – “Aw heck I think I’ve left the gas on”
